You'll need at least class 4 to stop a .308 cal round, and a class 3 to stop a .223 cal.

P.S if you get hit with a 308. Cal. round your out of the fight no matter what, its just whether or not you survive the impact. How many layers of kevlar to stop 223 and 308 cal rounds?
