How does the size and number of layers effect back propagation neural networks?

I'm currently setting up a neural network to manage the learning of some rudimentary AI in a game I'm making. The network works by learning the responses of a large group of gamers from a test set of data. Having little Experience of programming neural networks, I was curious as to the effects of having more and bigger layers. Short of a longer execution time. Does it improve the accuracy sufficiently to warrant increasing the size? How does the size and number of layers effect back propagation neural networks?
Researchers have proved that you never need more than three layers (input, hidden, and output). In a very few cases, it may be more convenient to have four layers, but you should understand why you should have a fourth layer before you add it. So just stick with three.

Increasing the number of nodes does not necessarily improve accuracy and may even decrease it. Increasing the number of nodes also forces you to have a correspondingly larger training sample.

Here's an analogy: Generate a set of data points from the equation y = ax + b (choose whatever a and b you want, but keep them constant once you have chosen them). To each data point add some random noise. Now, fit a curve to your noisy data. The obvious answer is that the curve y = ax + b should fit the data set very well, despite the fact that you have added noise.

But if you wanted to, you could choose a high dimension polynomial, maybe something like y = ax^10 + bx^9 + cx^8 + dx^7 + ex^6 + fx^5 + g^x4 + hx^3 + ix^2 + jx + k. You could find a set of coefficients, a to k, that fit your data set better than the simple y = ax + b relationship. Should the 10th order polynomial therefore be used to model your data? No. Why? Because if you wanted to predict additional data values, the relationship y = ax + b will do a far more reliable job of prediction than the 10th order polynomial. It will produce very stable results, while the high order polynomial may predict wildly wrong answers, particularly when you have to extrapolate rather than interpolate.

The ultimate purpose for your neural net is to predict and, in a way, it is very much like a curve-fitting process. So by using a smaller number of nodes, you may have a poorer fit to your training data than a net with a larger number of nodes, but when it comes time to predict, the net with a smaller number of nodes will tend to be more stable and produce more realistic answers than the one with a large number of nodes.

When you go beyond the bounds of the training set - analogous to extrapolating the curve fit - a neural net with a large number of nodes is likely to be extremely unstable, where a much simpler net may produce much more reasonable answers.

If I recall correctly, the minimum number of training samples should be the product of the number of input nodes times the number of hidden nodes. You can always use more training samples, but never less. So as you increase the number of nodes, you dramatically increase the number of training samples required before you can start to get reasonable answers.

  • What is the best way to style medium length hair with a lot of layers and long bangs?

i have brown hair. i am growing out my Straight bangs and i try to part them on the side. i have every appliance imaginable o i can do pretty much any thing. i really love formal looks. What is the best way to style medium length hair with a lot of layers and long bangs?
uhm my hair sorta looks like yers and i just wear mine down and straight, er use a snap clip to hold my bangs up(:

    How can i layer clothes?

can you help me with layering clothes and the colors and what stores i can get the right colors atHow can i layer clothes?
you can layer with so so many things and the best thing about it is that if you layer then even if u wear the same clothes it luks completely different

1.cami in black, white, grey, red, pink, purple, blue,gr鈥?or any other color you like

    2.lots of tanktops(all colors,plaid,checkered,etc...)

3.cardigans buy a lot in a lot of colors becuz you can layer them with so many things

    try wetseal,pacsun,target,hollister,abercrom鈥?br>

    hope i helped=]How can i layer clothes?
you dont need any specific clothes to layer.

plain clothes or graphic tees or vests can work.

when you layer, you want to have your underneath layers to show, so it has to be longer.

ex. short sleeved shirt over long sleeved shirt over a long tank.

or you can wear shirts with buttons and you can unbutton to show your tank or your under layer.
just get plain tank top from any store and you can layer that under any shirt.

In layering liquids, is it necessary to determine the solubility of all the liquids towards each other?

    Question above. : )

Also, what is the best plan or procedure if you want to layer several liquids? In layering liquids, is it necessary to determine the solubility of all the liquids towards each other?
That would depend on what you are trying to accomplish. If all you want to do is layer liquids, then the solubility of one in another shouldn't be of much concern. The plan would be to put the most dense liquid in the container first, followed by the next and the least dense placed on top.In layering liquids, is it necessary to determine the solubility of all the liquids towards each other?
No, it's not - you can even layer several liquids on each other in case that they are soluble - you've never drinked the cocktail semaphore - absinthe, rum, griotte :) They are miscible, but will make layers, if poured very cautiously. You just need to pour slowly, and on the glass, instead of pouring it straight.

You'll need to be patient, and train it for a while, but it's possible...

How do I go about styling my layered hair?

I have naturally curly hair and I use a straight iron to style it. But when I use it my hair never looks layered, it doesn't give it that dimension (the flat iron I mean). I also love how my hair looks after my stylist has blow dried it straight. But I can never get that look at home. I especially have blow drying it straight behind my head.

So, how can I style my hair to accentuate the layers in it, and is there an easy way to blow dry it straight? How do I go about styling my layered hair?
When you blowdry your hair, make sure that the blowdrier is pointed at the floor instead of directly at your hair, so it flattens your hair cuticles instead of ruffling them up, giving you a sleeker finish. Also, try ironing each layer individually--start with the layers close to your neck and work your way to the layers on top. This probably won't take much longer to do, and you'll get more of the layered look you want.

    Hope this helps!

So if i layer this top will it just ruin it..?

Okay so i got a really cute spagetti strap shirt today for back to school. the only problem is my school has a dress code policy and i cant wear it. So i was thinking..what if i wore just a plain, white solid tee under it? will it look weird?

thank youSo if i layer this top will it just ruin it..?
No, it wouldn't look weird at all, as long as has at least a little white in it.

You could also try wearing a cardigan on cooler days.So if i layer this top will it just ruin it..?
i agree with the others a nice cardigan would be nice

or just a nice plain pink/blue/purple shirt

and maybe a t-shirt with the sortof puffy sleeves on the shoulders

id do that but im a bit to chunky for it and and makes me look weird

:] but it's really cute if you can pull it off you know?
Yes, I think it would look kind of weird. You should find some sort of cropped sweater to go over it. Like this:

    http://campussqueeze.com/wp-content/uplo鈥?/a>

Something like that would look cute.

One that matches your shirt, of course.
wear another tank top under, but make sure its one with thicker straps, so its acceptable for school.

wear it over a tank like this one:

    http://blog.roots.com/.a/6a00e553c41c918鈥?/a>
it wont look weird people wear that all the time (:
if you can pull it off, go for it.

or try a cover up, or a zip up hoodie, cardigan or sweater!

    (: good luck
Can you post a picture of it,

or descrice it a little more please?
no i think it is a really cute look! and it looks less sleezy too!
    yes it would look bad

    try wearing a cardigan!
no, but a cardnigan over it would be much cuter:)
how are we supposed to know if we don't know what it looks like?!

How do you find out how many layers of coat your dog has?

We are trying to narrow down some things about our mixed adopted dog. How can you tell how many layers your dog's coat has? What are you supposed to really look at?How do you find out how many layers of coat your dog has?
Many breeds have a double coat which is composed of a harder, straighter top coat and a softer woolly undercoat.

Using one finger, just gently push your dogs coat against the way it lies naturally. If he's double coated you should be able to see the softer coat lying nearer the skin.

Double coated dogs tend to shed in 2 stages. First, the soft underocat comes out, often in clumps which you can pull out by hand once they have loosened, then the top coat somes out, more in individual hairs which fly all over the place and weave themselves into clothes and furnitureHow do you find out how many layers of coat your dog has?
Some breeds gave what is called a double coat like the schnauzer which consists of an outer harsh coat and an undercoat that is much softer. This breed does not shed but most people who show have to remove the top coat and sometimes the dense undercoat so a new coat will grow.If you are Lucky and have what is called a natural coat you do not have to do the above but merely pluck out the longer hairs. As far as l know either a dog has a single or double coat.
they can have several and with my husky i think he has over a100 lol.he has been shedding non stop all yr and i have clumps of hair and fur all over.he seems to have the top coat along with at least 3 under coats that are all falling out.the new growth pushed out the top and inbetween layers so its hard to pinpont how much ur pooch has. get a good grooming brush and use it on him weekly to remove all the loose fur and then the new growth will come in nice and soft.
Take it to the vet and they can find out for you. It's probably pretty hard on your own.

How do you make a two layered jello?

I want to put one layer of Strawberry and one layer of Blueberry jello and then put cool whip on the top. how would i do this without melting a previous layer, or mixing the two while they're still a liquid? How do you make a two layered jello?
You need to make the strawberry one, then refridgerate. After that one has settled, mix up the second one, and pour on top of the strawberry. Refridgerate immediately. After it has completely cooled, you can put your layer of whip cream on top. Makes a great treat for the 4th! :)How do you make a two layered jello?
Make them sepertly and then when they are solid like form put them on top of each other. this way you don't have to screw up the other layer or both.
Chill the first layer, then pour on the other.
ewwww wont eat that stuff since it is made with ground up horse hoove in it.....nasty
I believe, and this is speculation, but it seems it would work by making the layers in two separate containers of equal dimensions. For example make the strawberry in a 8x8 dish and also at the same time use another 8x8 dish and make the blueberry. When they are both set carefully remove the flavor that you want on top and place it on the the other. I would say possibly lighty spray the bottom layer with water to make it soften up enough as to adhere to the bottom of the top layer. Then put on your whip cream. This is my guess I have never done it.
Chill the first layer, then pour on the other.
let the first layer solidify in the fridge. Then make the second layer and it cool down a bit before pouring (make sure it cools from boiling to luke warm) mixture on to your first layer.
First, make the bottom layer. When that is done, make the second layer on a separate bowl and wait till that one cools down a little. Than pour that on top of the first layer.
It's easy. First make one flavor of gelatin , pour it into the mold ,only partialy filling the mold. Let that layer set until partialy or fully set follow this with another flavor( preferably a contrasting color as well) and let it set as well. If you have room in the mold you can do this for as many layers as tou have room. A tip. You don't have to use all of your liquid jello at once, Pour a little into your mold, pour the rest into another container and put both in the fridge. Do your next layer and pour the extra from that one into another container and so on. TO re-liquify the set extra jellos just put thier containers in a hot water bath or easier yet, the microwave qand begin again.
What jake said, let the first layer solidify. But ick..Im not a jello fan
you make the first layer in that container, then you work on the other batch keep checking on it every 10min or depending on how good your fridge works whenyou see its starting to get thicker but ot solid pour it in the main container

Has a building ever fallen in NYC due to there being too many layers of roofing?

You are supposed to remove old roofing before replacing it but many old buildings have various layers. Has this ever caused a roof to fall in?Has a building ever fallen in NYC due to there being too many layers of roofing?
Interesting question. I checked some structural engineering data and could not find a single structural failure with multi-layer roofing as a cause. My guess is that because the load would be so well distributed and not a point type load that it would take many many layers of roofing to cause a structural failure.Has a building ever fallen in NYC due to there being too many layers of roofing?
Not that I am aware of.

If there are many holes in the ozone layer...?

this is the reason for the greenhouse effect right? If there are many holes in the ozone layer...?
    WRONG.

Contrary to the environmentalists' claims, there is no permanent hole in the ozone layer and no ozone shortage. Ozone is constantly created and destroyed. The interaction of ultraviolet radiation with oxygen molecules is what produces ozone. In the stratosphere, 10 to 40 kilometers above the earth's surface, several tons of ozone are produced every second.

The amount of ozone present at any one time is influenced by many factors. For example, the amount of ultraviolet radiation reaching the stratosphere (and ultimately producing ozone) depends upon latitude, solar cycle, and season. Concentrations of ozone may differ drastically from one day to the next, sometimes by as much as 50 percent, depending on the weather. Ozone holes are natural reactions to these ultraviolet light variations. Ozone levels can also be affected by the amount of volcanic matter in the stratosphere. Each volcanic eruption emits roughly a thousand times the amount of ozone锟絛epleting chemicals than all the CFCs man has ever produced.

The ozone hole that appeared over Antarctica and caused all the panic is a natural and annual phenomena. The annual ozone hole was first measured in 1956锟?7, long before the ozone锟絛estroying CFCs were in common use. The hole appears at the end of the dark, cold Antarctic winter, lasts about three to five weeks, and then disappears. There is no overall or permanent depletion of the ozone layer.

  • How can I grow out my layers without cutting the length off?

My hair is a little bit past my shoulders, but I have shorter layers that I really want to grow out. Is there any way to get my layers to grow out without having to cut the length off my hair? My hair is on the thin side, but it is not fine. I am really having a hard time to get the layers, especially around my face, to grow. They just seem to break off. Any advice, especially from professional hair stylists, would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!How can I grow out my layers without cutting the length off?
You unfortunately will have to get the length cut. As the layers grow out so will the back length, the only way for the layers to catch up to the back is to bring the back up to even it out. Just wait until the layers get to a comfortable length for you and take the back off little by little and before you know it the layers will be grown out. As far as the layers around your face, it's hard to say without seeing you in person, but some hair breaks due to pulling it back off of your face or just wear and tare. Get the front trimmer also and remember to get regular trims because if you leave it too long it will split. Good luck, I know it's really hard to grow out layers, but winter is a great time to do it!How can I grow out my layers without cutting the length off?
Thank you to everyone who responded to my question. You all gave me some great advice! Report Abuse

If your hair is dry and you have alot of breakage you need to get a revitalizing shampoo and conditioner something that strengthens the hair, and i would do hot oil treatments as well. This should strengthen your hair, and about the layers your hair should start to grow faster after the hair is strengthened, then you will just have to grow the layers to where you want them and cut the rest of your hair so its all evened out.
theres not to much u realli can do.. just let it grow. :]
I grew my hair out from having serious layers- my hairstylest kept my length trimmed to keep my hair looking healthy but didn't cut the layers. This way my hair continued to grow and my layers eventually caught up. I also use Biolage leave in fortifying treatment (I spray it in after I shower and let my hair air dry overnight) My other suggestion is to try to hold back on drying it with a blowdryer and styling it lots- using curling irons/straighteners etc. because that will cause the hair to break off easier.
Go get your hair trimmed every six weeks...eventually your layers will become grown long enough and you can get them trimmed as well...Trimming is the best you can offer to your hair to keep it healthy and growing nicely..

How are scientists able to study layers of the earth?

I have been sick all week and haven't been to school i have all my notes in my locker ! So if you could tell me the answer that would be helpful. How are scientists able to study layers of the earth?
the elemental composition was determined by ';bowen's reaction series'; which basically factors in the melting points of several elements and therefore computes that hotter lava had to have come from deeper places, and voila! you have what the mantle is made of. (your teacher may not have gone over anything like that.). They study the layers by computation and calculation of seismic waves. Basically when there is an earthquake somewhere, it can be recorded anywhere. Because seismic waves travel differently through different kinds of material (the more solid, the faster, but also the less vibration, the more liquid, the slower, but the greater vibration.) By doing extensive calculations with things like that, they have been able to determine essentially the composition of the inside of the earth. (your teacher may have covered something like that.) We can't go down into the middle of the earth, for reasons that I won't go into right now.How are scientists able to study layers of the earth?
earth quackes have diferent types of waves, diferent ypes of waves have diferent abilities, like S(maybe P not sure right now) waves, they cant cross liquids, so therefore they found that the earth's external nucleous is liquid :D
By studying seismic waves generated by earthquakes geologists learn about the earth's deep structure.

What are the benefits of a layered architecture when building ASP.NET app?

In other words, why should I use one? I currently build my apps with all data/business logic in the code behind. What are the advantages? What are the benefits of a layered architecture when building ASP.NET app?
A layered architecture in ASP.NET or any language makes you application much easier to maintain, expand and scale. For example if you ever needed to change that database your application uses, or even upgrade to a newer version of the existing database, it will be much easier to make this change if all your data access code is in one place instead of spread across all the page code behinds. In an even more dramatic example you may decide for scalability reasons to move all your data access code to an entirely different server, this would be really hard to do if data access wasn't in it's own layer.

You can run into similar issues with business logic. For example you may have a series of business rules that are checked when some data is entered through a web page. Later on you may need to provide an external interface through a web service, or batch import for entering that same data. Having the business logic in it's own layers allows you to apply the same logic to both interfaces.

i need bangs to the tip of my nose they have to go to the side and i need short or long layers

best answers please`How would i describe to my stylist how to cut my hair with layers and side bangs?
with words.... why, doesn't she speak english?
    just like you said here.
If im on the same page as you about the style you want Im pretty sure Jennifer Aniston had a cut like the one you want. Id goggle her hair styles.
if showing pics to your stylist gets you a bad haircut, i'd say change your stylist. what are you doing with that ';professional';?

the best way to show the style you want is to show them what you want.

try some others hair saloons, i think that's the best way to go.

remember that a great hair stylist would manage to do a fine haircut either with or without a picture.
tell them you want layers and side bangs.
Do you have layers in it now? If not, tell the stylist that you want to start out with a few longer layers, to see what they are going to look like. Then you can always take them shorter afterwards if you'd like. And always have a longer starting point for the bangs too, because once it's cut you can't put it back on!!!
just tell her exactly what u told us.... that you want layers and side swept bangs. if u want, u can tell her how short you want the layers and ur bangs to b. or which way you want them to be swept.
why dont you tell her like you just said it? keep an eye on what she's doing and and guide her with, ';Oh i want that this short' or ';layered'; or however you want it. Stylists are usually great at following directions and asking questions, although they should be considering what they're doing. If this one stylist doesn't suit your needs get a new one or talk to her or his/her supervisor.
see, my experiences are opposite of yours. whenever i dont bring in a pic they butcher my hair, but the one time i brought in one they did a great job!

    What is ozone layer?

the ozone layer is a layer of summat that protects the earth from harmful raysWhat is ozone layer?
    (m)

The ozone layer, or ozonosphere layer (rarely used term), is that part of the Earth's atmosphere which contains relatively high concentrations of ozone (O3). ';Relatively high'; means a few parts per million - much higher than the concentrations in the lower atmosphere but still small compared to the main components of the atmosphere. The ozone layer was discovered in 1913 by the French physicists Charles Fabry and Henri Buisson. Its properties were explored in detail by the British meteorologist G. M. B. Dobson, who developed a simple spectrophotometer that could be used to measure stratospheric ozone from the ground. Between 1928 and 1958 Dobson established a worldwide network of ozone monitoring stations which continues to operate today. The ';Dobson unit';, a convenient measure of the total amount of ozone in a column overhead, is named in his honor. What is ozone layer?
A thin layer of o3 (ozone) that filters out much of the suns UV rays. It is thinest at the polar caps. There is also a hole the size of the US in it over the arctic. It's very important, it stops us from becoming ';French Fries'; from the sun
The shield of gas that lies at least 20 km above us and protects us from harmful UV rays that the sun spews out. Ozone is like oxygen in the air we breath, except it has 3 atoms (not 2). If the UV rays reached us without the protection of the ozone layer we would all fry to a crisp.... ever seen the barbie doll melt in the Australian sun, that's due to the depletion of the ozone layer. The depletion is occuring due to CFCs which were massively present in aerosol cans and fridges years ago. Despite having reduced CFCs in recent years they continue to do damage. This damage to the ozone means that the polar ice caps have started to melt, which in turn causes the sea levels to rise. Ultimately low lying land could be flooded and the whole geography of the world changed. Pretty scary. Although some argue that other pollutants we have pumped into the atmosphere actually cause the sunlight to defract therefore reducing its strength and counteracting the ozone depletion. Only time will tell.....
it is the protective layer around the earth which protects the earth from harmful ultravoilet radiation coming from sun by filtering it.
ozone is made up of oxygen molecules that are going around in 3's rather than the usual 2's more common nearer the ground.

It is the O2 molecules that organisms like to use for their oxygen needs

O3 (ozone) has rather different properties and is thought to be formed very near to the earth's surface when pollution , say from cars and the like is present and not where it is needed higher up in the atmosphere
Ozone Layer or ozonosphere, region of the stratosphere containing relatively high concentrations of ozone, located at altitudes of 12鈥?0 mi (19鈥?8 km) above the earth's surface. Ozone in the ozone layer is formed by the action of solar ultraviolet light on oxygen.

The ozone layer prevents most ultraviolet (UV) and other high-energy radiation from penetrating to the earth's surface but does allow through sufficient ultraviolet rays to support the activation of vitamin D in humans. The full radiation, if unhindered by this filtering effect, would destroy animal tissue. Higher levels of radiation resulting from the depletion of the ozone layer have been linked with increases in skin cancers and cataracts and have been implicated in the decline of certain amphibian species.
layer that protects the earth from harmful rays WOOOOHOOOO
oxone is the layer surrounding the earth that protects it from UV rays. its made up of oxygen atoms just like the ones v breathe. but the ones v breathe r in pairs of two forming a molecule O2, %26amp; the 1 in the ozone layer r made up of 3 oxygen atoms O3. this layer is currently thinning out due the the pollution in the atmosphere like on the poles %26amp; in australia.

I know this is really random, but I'm dying to know, haha. How do flakey dinner rolls get their layers?
When rolling the dough, butter is placed on the layer and it is folded over an rolled out and then more butter is added and the dough is folded over and rolled again. The same process as making puff pastry but not as many layers or quite as much butter. What is the difference between ';stacked'; and ';layered';?

I had an excellent haircut a few years ago and I would like to ask for the same style. The stylist described it at the time as ';stacked';.What is the difference between ';stacked'; and ';layered';?
hum, stacked? never heard that expression for hair, yet. stacked to me still means a compliment of the breasts.. anyways...

layered means big fluffy hair.. layers are good... helps the hair's volume if ya understand.

do you have pictures of your hair? that helps tons.. or find an example online or somewhere..

take it with you and show the stylist.. that is always a great plus, they love visuals.

just telling them stacked or layered only summerizes it to many, many types of hairstyles.

    pictures are BEST!

hope you find one that makes a clear example for your stylist.

How to straighten fizzy, dry , curly, short, layered hair?

Okay so I have short layered hair. Whenever I take a shower it puffs and starts to fizz and at the tips it curls. I got expensive straighteners and blow-drayers and they still don't work. I even tried a shampoo for dry hair. Any advice on how to make it silky straight? How to straighten fizzy, dry , curly, short, layered hair?
    1) get a hair straightener from walgreens for cheap

    2) separate your hair into different sections

    3) straighten each section one by one

    4) when all the sections are straight, straighten them all toghether

this works, trust me! i feel your pain girl! i have the same hair and it gets soo frustrating. another thing you can do is get a straightening gel or something from a salon or drugstore.

with the original photo already opened, go to file/open and open the second picture. make sure the second picture is active and hit ctrl-A which selects everything in that picture then change to the ';move'; tool and just drag it onto the first photo. well

take the background picture, open it in photoshop then

copy and paste it to the layer in which you want the background picture.

then you must move the background to become the bottom most layer.

of course if the foreground layer does not have anything that is transparent, then the background will not show.

i am a hairstylist, and even I wouldnt layer my own hair since it is impossible to get an even cut. But if you must try it.. (this is a simple way to layer long top with less mistakes...) take your hair and pull half it it up from the occipital bone up (it is the lump in the back of your head) comb out a half pony tail by using a comp to part it (like a halo look) comb the hair all the way up with both hands.. then use your finger to measure one or two inches on the ends.. cut off only 2 inches max of the hair.. again i do not recommend doing this yourself, but this is how to do long layers (also expect it to be uneven since its hard to have maximum tension when you do this yourself)

um... i cut my own hair without my mom noticing.. so take like a little at a time and just snip at different parts.
first straighten your hair then take a rag of wet water and damp %26amp; wet your hair where you want your layers to be
i am not to sure but i have seen girls put their hair in a pony tail and cut diagonally, best advice don't do it at home find a salon...
i am going to try cutting my hair using the method that Belin told and i'll tell you how it goes:)

    wish me luck:)
If your hair is long, sit down, bend your head (like looking underneath your chair), comb your hair all down like you're going to do a ponytail on top of your head. Hold it like that and cut it all by once considering the length you want for bangs (3,5 to 4 inches). When you comb it back down, your hair will be in perfect layers.
with me i took a shower, strighted my hair and just cut highs and lows and it was layered
    Steps

    1. Shampoo and condition your hair. Towel dry, leaving your hair rather on the wet side. You may want to have a spray bottle of water nearby to keep your hair moist during the process of cutting your hair.

    2. Comb your wet hair straight back.

    3. With your comb, evenly section off about one half inch of hair as though you are going to cut 鈥渂angs锟?, but continue the section all the way down your face in front of the ears. The rest of your hair should still be combed straight back to keep it out of your way.You should see a straight line from the top of your head to the sides.

    4. Bring the top-section hair forward and down in front of your eyes. Using your nose as a measurement for length, cut the section of hair straight across to just the outer edges of your eyes. Your starting cut should be at the tip of your nose, but if you want your hair shorter, cut higher up but never higher than the bridge of your nose. You should now have a straight line from the outer edge of one eye to the other. This line will be your length guide for cutting the remainder of your hair. The further down your nose you make your first cut, the longer your overall haircut will be.

    5. Standing in front of the mirror, comb the section you鈥檝e just cut straight up. Holding your hair between your index finger and your middle finger in a scissor-like grip, snip off just the very tips of this section. All you are trying to do here is get a straight line while the hair is held straight up. Cut too much, and you will have a shorter haircut overall.

    6. Comb the sides of the section straight up pulling with it some of the hair you鈥檝e just cut. Notice that you can easily see how the sides are longer than the cut section. Using the 鈥渂ang锟? cut as your guide, and holding the side sections straight up, make your next cuts straight across. When you let the hair go you will notice that it falls easily into layers.

    7. With your comb, section off another small halo of hair from ear to ear combing it forward and keeping the remainder of your hair straight back. Comb the new section of hair straight up, pulling with it the first section as your cutting guide. You should easily see where the first section was cut and the new section that is needing to be cut. Cut the second section evenly with the first. Pull the side sections straight up again to cut it even with the bang area.

    8. Continue sectioning and pulling the hair straight up and cutting across using the guide lines from each previous cut. Be careful not to section off too much for each new cut, as it makes it difficult to see where your cutting guideline is. You will continue sectioning and cutting all the way to the back of your head, pulling each section straight up until you have sectioned and cut all of your hair.

    Tips

    * Keeping your hair fairly wet through this process makes it easier to hold the area you are not cutting out of your way.

    * Be careful to continue your cuts at the same length all the way across the top as you pull each section up. It is very easy to make slightly shorter cuts as you section towards the back of your head which will give you kind of a punk look on the very top of your head.

    * To make an even longer version of this haircut, comb each section straight up and slightly forward when making your cuts. This will make the overall cut longer in the back, leaving the front shorter and wispy.

    * The first few times you cut your hair this way, cut only a small amount and work towards the length you are really after. Making drastic changes can cause you to be very unhappy with the cut you鈥檝e made.

    * This method of cutting your hair can be used for rather short to very long depending on the angle you pull your hair.

    * Use a pair of scissors that is meant for cutting hair. These types of scissors have that 鈥渉ook锟? off of one of the finger-holes. Scissors should be held with the thumb in one hole and the ring finger in the hole with the 鈥渉ook锟?. Your pinky finger rests on the 鈥渉ook锟? . This gives you complete control of the scissors so that you can insert and remove your thumb from its placement and you can comb the sections of hair as you go along without having to put the scissors down between each cut.

    * With each cut, hold the hair you are about to cut between your index finger and the middle finger in a scissor like grip. This way you can use your finger as a guide for your scissorw to make straight cuts. Don't bend your fingers.

    * Make sure you cut straight across from ear to ear, not tilting your scissors. To do so will cause one side of your haircut to be longer than the other.

    * Have sharp scissors. There is nothing worse than trying to chew through your hair with a dull pair of scissors.

    * Understand that if you currently have a haircut that is a 鈥渂ob';, where the hair is rather long in the front and sides but short in back, this cut will cause your hair to be drastically short looking.

    * Keep the blades of the scissors closed between each cut.

How many layer that our earth have?

u can't count them. How many layer that our earth have?
we have 3 layers of earth the crust, mantle and the core(inner core and outer core) Report Abuse
How many layer that our earth have?
    In very basic terms, 3.

    The crust - outer layer

    mantle - the mid layer

core - the centre of the earth

There are many more layers, but this is a simplified view
    a lot
Not including the atmosphere the earth is divided into four main layers: the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust. The core is composed mostly of iron (Fe) and is so hot that the outer core is molten, with about 10% sulphur (S). The inner core is under such extreme pressure that it remains solid. Most of the Earth's mass is in the mantle, which is composed of iron (Fe), magnesium (Mg), aluminum (Al), silicon (Si), and oxygen (O) silicate compounds. At over 1000 degrees C, the mantle is solid but can deform slowly in a plastic manner. The crust is much thinner than any of the other layers, and is composed of the least dense calcium (Ca) and sodium (Na) aluminum-silicate minerals. Being relatively cold, the crust is rocky and brittle, so it can fracture during earthquakes.

    As to the atmosphere

    Troposphere

The troposphere starts at the Earth's surface and extends 8 to 14.5 kilometers high (5 to 9 miles). This part of the atmosphere is the most dense. As you climb higher in this layer, the temperature drops from about 17 to -52 degrees Celsius. Almost all weather is in this region. The tropopause separates the troposphere from the next layer. The tropopause and the troposphere are known as the lower atmosphere.

    Stratosphere

The stratosphere starts just above the troposphere and extends to 50 kilometers (31 miles) high. Compared to the troposphere, this part of the atmosphere is dry and less dense. The temperature in this region increases gradually to -3 degrees Celsius, due to the absorbtion of ultraviolet radiation. The ozone layer, which absorbs and scatters the solar ultraviolet radiation, is in this layer. Ninety-nine percent of ';air'; is located in the troposphere and stratosphere. The stratopause separates the stratosphere from the next layer.

    Mesosphere

The mesosphere starts just above the stratosphere and extends to 85 kilometers (53 miles) high. In this region, the temperatures again fall as low as -93 degrees Celsius as you increase in altitude. The chemicals are in an excited state, as they absorb energy from the Sun. The mesopause separates the mesophere from the thermosphere.

The regions of the stratosphere and the mesosphere, along with the stratopause and mesopause, are called the middle atmosphere by scientists. This area has been closely studied on the ATLAS Spacelab mission series.

    Thermosphere

The thermosphere starts just above the mesosphere and extends to 600 kilometers (372 miles) high. The temperatures go up as you increase in altitude due to the Sun's energy. Temperatures in this region can go as high as 1,727 degrees Celsius. Chemical reactions occur much faster here than on the surface of the Earth. This layer is known as the upper atmosphere
It Is said that the earth has 4 layers but if you include the crust it is 5. The layers from the centre are: The inner core, the outer core, the lower mantle, the upper mantle and the crust.
It has five main layers. From the inside out:

    Inner core

    Outer core

    Mantle

    Crust

    Atmosphere

The earth has a outer core which is the crust which we live on, inner core that is molten rock, and last the inner core which is solid Fe. We have Three layers!

Should I have it done, and does anyone have before/after pictures? What does it mean to have layers in your hair?
Layers = Having different lengths throughout your hair, which looks more trendy, textured, modern and special.

Most haircuts have layers, unless it is really short, a crew cut, shaved, a bowl cut....

Here are some pics of nice men's cuts that have lots of layers/lengths throughout to make it look more rough and edgy.

    * To see the layers, focus on the ends of the hair and how they are all different and don't match up, %26amp; how the hair looks thinner towards the ends.*What does it mean to have layers in your hair?
Layers simply means that the hair in a certain area of the scalp is all cut the same length. In other words, if all the hair on the head is cut to the same exact length, such as four inches, the hair will have an almost infinite number of layers that can form. The antithesis of layered hair would be a blunt cut. The hair is all cut as it hangs down from the scalp at a certain point, such as chin length all around the head. This causes all the hair on the head to be cut a different length.
Step cutting will give you layers!

What's the difference between layers and thinning out?

I'm getting my hair cut on Saturday, and I have really thick hair. It's all too much, and I'm interested in getting it layered. But I've heard people using the term 'thinning out' and I don't know if this is the same as layering. If it isn't, would you recommend it?What's the difference between layers and thinning out?
Layering is just that...layers. Thinning is going into the layers to thin out the layers. This is perfect for really thick hair so that it's not so bushy. Thinning shears are used instead of scissors. What's the difference between layers and thinning out?
wow. so i'm not the only one wid that prob. hmm...i think 'thining out' has got somethin 2 do with straitening but layers is basically to chop hair in different steps to make your hair look less dense...

The only way you'll know is to read the specifications on the computer and the drive. If it doesn't explicitly say so, probably not.
If you don't see DVD+R DL (DL stands for Double Layer) in the DVD front panel, then probably not.

You can bake your layers in two pans that are the same size. Putting wax paper on top of a single layer to make two layers will not work -- the wax paper will simply bake into the batter and it will end up as a single layer with a wax paper filling.

Yes, you can put a layered cake together without frosting inbetween. You can bake the layers separately, or just cut a cake in half and stack it. But why go to the trouble? Just bake a sheet cake and put your decorations on top. It is not necessary to stack the layers without filling, who would know you had? For a round cake, cut a cake into rounds and stack them, or stack squares.

Try making a filling that is not so sweet. Using fruit would cut the sweet taste. Using strawberries, or lemon, lime flavors would be sweet/sour and easier to tolerate for you. Cake boss does a great looking strawberry cake.

and no, don't put paper in between, it would not give you even layers, and you would make a mess just trying to get the paper back out.

I did a pudding cake once, I just used good old jello chocolate pudding inbetween the layers and frosted it with it. I did not have a recipe, just thought it up myself. I kept it in the refrig until serving time, so it would not work for you this time. I served it to the parents, and they liked it. Keep this method in mind.
try using buttercream icing instead of canned grocery store frosting. I made a cake for my bf's work, and everyone loved. He told me that several people said ';I don't like cake, and I dont' like frosting, but I LOVE this';. So I would give the buttercream a shot.

    1 Cup Shortening

    1 Cup Butter

    2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

    2 Tablesoons Milk

8 Cups of Powdered Sugar (almost a whole 2 lb bag)

Cream the shortening and butter in a large bowl

    add the vanilla and mix

gradually add the powdered sugar, about a cup at a time, scraping the sides regularly.

Add almost the whole bage, or measure our the cups (i'm lazy). When the mixture is starting to look a little dry and a bit crumbly that's when you stop adding the powdered sugar and add the milk. Voila!

This makes enough to frost and fill a three layer 8'; cake with some left over for decorating
No the baking paper is a bad idea and will not work.

You can fill the layer pan 3/4 full and when it is baked and done and cool , you can cut the cake across horizontally with a long bread knife fill or spread with jam instead of icing, then place the top piece or second layer back on top for your layered cake.

Place the top layer with the smooth cake top up. Then ice with a butter cream icing.
Jess, try making a European style torte, instead of a layer cake? It's easier than it sounds...you begin by cutting your layer in half, that way, you'll get four layers, but need only two cakes.

You can fill the layers with anything at all, from puddings to fresh fruits. I make one. a chocolate cherry torte that is filled with cherries and iced with a marshmallow frosting made with almond extract. You only need to frost the top layer, too, so all that extra sweetness doesn't go all around the sides.

You could try a lemon cake/lemon frosting with drained mandarin oranges for the filling. Chocolate cake/fudge frosting with strawberries or cherries for filling. Flavored cream cheese as a filling is also a good idea, and it won't suffer from being out on a table for hours.

For a traditional torte, you could try this one....

This will give you some photo know-how and the recipe, which is at the bottom of it all.....its a little time consuming to make...but what a WOW factor when you put it on the table!

Good luck in whatever you choose...it'll be great!
Well you need to put something in the middle otherwise what are the layers? How about jelly or jam. Try peanut butter, grind it yourself for no sugar at all. Male sure you cake is nice and cool first and soften your peanut butter a little in the microwave so it is easier to spread. If your icing is too sweet just use less sugar, make a lemon drizzle-type filling. You could also make a bunt cake. No layers but it is taller than a sheet cake. Nutella would also work. (Nutella is a hazelnut-chocolate spread similar to peanut butter)
    Use cool-whip. (keep cake refrigerated.

use jam or preserves in a complimentary flavor (raspberry, pineapple, strawberry, blueberry, etc.)

And no, don't put paper in-between the layers. Just use 2 pans. You could do it in a 9x13'; rectangle baker, then cut that in half, but the cut edges of the layers will be very difficult to frost w/ icing.
yea jelly is good.... or you can put less sugar in your frosting....

What's the BEST method for cleaning SEVERELY oil burnt and stain layered stoves?

ok. so we do some crazy cookin and our stove looks like a WWII battlefield. Now, we've tried:

Water, liquid detergent soap, comet, ajax, bleach, oxyclean, 409, EZ oven clean, everything the commercials have recommended. We've tried so many of it. NOTHING works!

So, what have y'all found that works? Anything will help!!!

Thanks in advance. What's the BEST method for cleaning SEVERELY oil burnt and stain layered stoves?
If SOS pads or WD40 does not work try Simply Green. When I worked in a shop we used that to clean oil spills in the bays. Another think, try to clean it when it is warm.

If all else fails get out the paint thinner or mineral spirits. What's the BEST method for cleaning SEVERELY oil burnt and stain layered stoves?
Have you tried WD40? It works great on this type of problem...
How about a degreaser and SOS pad. It must really be burnt on if oven cleaner didn't clean it.
hello, my name is carol depending on the kind of cooker you have, if you have a none painted cooker, ie stainless steel you can get stubborn marks off with a gentle brillo-pad, i allways use them, and the ciff oven cleaner works a treat (yellow) i allways this on my stainless steel inside combination oven, and as long as you allways clean it thoroughly afterwards its a must for anyone that likes life easy, but you must allways put a mug of cold water in on the microwave setting for a few mins, thats what i do to make sure there is no remaining cleaner in the vents you know the holes in the oven, but please dont consider using it in a painted, white inside of the oven or microwave. hope this helps.
Brush on liquid dishwasher detergent and let it sit overnight.

Look in your Layer pallette. Have the layer that you are to change active. At near the top of the Layer pallette, there is a box titled ';Blending Mode'; or ';Blending';. Click the drop down arrow next to this box and select Color Dodge.

  • How would you compare the thickness of Saturn鈥檚 various layers with the equivalent layers in Jupiter?

How would you compare the thickness of Saturn鈥檚 various layers with the equivalent layers in Jupiter. Why do the thicknesses differ? How would you compare the thickness of Saturn鈥檚 various layers with the equivalent layers in Jupiter?
Saturn's layers are about the same thickness as Jupiter's, they aren't as dense though, that's why jupiter really isn't that much bigger than Saturn but it has like twice the mass, or something like that

How can you make choppy layers more noticeable?

I just got my hair layered.

I tried to curl the hair outwards with my straightener but it didn't work.

How can I make it them more noticeable? How can you make choppy layers more noticeable?
Instead use the hair dryer if you want to it to curl outward with a big round brush and go over it about five times then hold with hairspray.

Also, Highlight hair maybe with just a shade lighter or two just so it highlights buts still close to hair color it add dimension to hair.

Wax helps to piece hair if that's what you would like. How can you make choppy layers more noticeable?
if you want them to stick out i flat iron them going straight up, and sometimes flip them out just a little bit and use a texturizing gel or serum and just work it in and tease my hair
    a texturing wax or serum.
