How to layer your own hair?

Use a razor, like the same sort you would use to shave you legs. I'm sorry I can't really describe the technique very well, but just go for it :)

i am a hairstylist, and even I wouldnt layer my own hair since it is impossible to get an even cut. But if you must try it.. (this is a simple way to layer long top with less mistakes...) take your hair and pull half it it up from the occipital bone up (it is the lump in the back of your head) comb out a half pony tail by using a comp to part it (like a halo look) comb the hair all the way up with both hands.. then use your finger to measure one or two inches on the ends.. cut off only 2 inches max of the hair.. again i do not recommend doing this yourself, but this is how to do long layers (also expect it to be uneven since its hard to have maximum tension when you do this yourself)
