Nothing would happen to the Earth, since it doesn't depend on delicate chemicals that electro-magnetic (EM) radiation destroys. Life on Earth is a different story. It existed for a long time on Earth without the ozone layer, using ocean water to screen out harmful EM radiation. It wasn't until after the ozone layer formed that life could survive on land. EM radiation is also deflected to the north magnetic pole, and this shielding effect of the magnetosphere helps to protect life on Earth.
