You are supposed to remove old roofing before replacing it but many old buildings have various layers. Has this ever caused a roof to fall in?Has a building ever fallen in NYC due to there being too many layers of roofing?
Interesting question. I checked some structural engineering data and could not find a single structural failure with multi-layer roofing as a cause. My guess is that because the load would be so well distributed and not a point type load that it would take many many layers of roofing to cause a structural failure.Has a building ever fallen in NYC due to there being too many layers of roofing?
Not that I am aware of.
